I purchased a Bach 16, dual bore, with a Bach 425 bell, which is the more open of the three bells Bach makes for their small bore trombones. When I received it the braces were badly out of alignment, placing the bell less than 3/4 of an inch from the slide. That is much too close and I kept hitting my fingers against the bell, causing a loud, annoying clicking sound. So I took it to my good friend and expert trombone repairman. He heated the joints and adjusted the braces slightly, which allowed for a comfortable space between the slide and the bell. The slide is super slick and now that the horn has been adjusted, it plays beautifully. It is exactly what I wanted when I made the purchase and the trouble I had to go through to get it set up correctly was worth it.
