I have used this processor for will over a yr maybe longer, paired with the right motherboard it's a very good processor. My setup is: EVGA P55 FTW 200 MB Intel i5 650 3.2 GHz Corsair H80i Cooler x2 EVGA GTX 550 Ti I overclocked it 4.0 GHz with NP at all. I have no problems playing the newness game out there - on mid - high setting. It is the first GEN. of the i cores.... it's 3 Gen behind now but still give a good amount of processing power. It's 2 cores and 4 Threads, Hyper Threading Technology, Turbo boost, Smart Cache, and Integrate Memory Controller supporting DDR3 Memory. For the person that states you didn't get what image shows look again it said on chip (image) 650 is 0 with line through it. same as mine that I paid retail for. it's LGA 1156 if your board support the 1156 socket it should work fine.Read full review
I bought this as the centerpiece of my new build, finally upgrading from a P4 (please don't laugh too hard). Honestly, between this processor, the new mother board and the upgrade in RAM, it's difficult to say exactly what it is about the processor, specifically that makes it so much better. I haven't used other versions of the i5 or even the i3, and I haven't started tweaking my BIOS or even paid attention to any of the information available to me about how fast it runs. I just know that I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything.
I bought it for the processing power at the right price point. It has done everything I've asked. I mated it with a Cooler-Master CPU COOLER CM| RR-B10-212P-G1 RT and 8 gig of memory as well as an NVIDIA GTX 460 card and everything runs fast and cool.
Awesome speed at multiple calculations!
