It works in my case here on medium speeds, but it is cheaply made on the RS232 side. The CH340 on the USB side is not the issue. Not the fault of the seller, they are sold everywhere. I measured it with the scope and it delivers just 0V and 5V signals on tx. Not the negative voltages needed with some RS232 printers, etc. If you have doubts it will work, buy a better one with a real FTDI chip or something to deliver negative and positive voltages accurately.

I need quite a few of these to deploy to keep some old hardware running until I phase or or over the next year. I've not had 100% luck with any USB to RS232 adapter, so I ordered 5 needing 3 to actually work. So far I've got 3 out of 4 working, and haven't had time to test the 5th properly. All are being run on Win7 x64 using the included driver. I haven't tried getting a new driver from Prolific.

Oh what a beautiful adapter! I will name one of my children after it.

I bought it to flash my 8051 micro controllers and it works without any problem. The build quality is not the best but for the money, you can't beat it!
