I was going to try to figure out a way to make my own feet, but I would've had to give up the ability to put it in the case, since the front feet are hollow. So I got these and they are much better than anything I would've made myself. It's quite tricky to get the front feet onto the typewriter.I used a small philips screwdriver to push the flange through the hole. I had to be careful not to damage anything. The back feet were a bit too tight for the screws that mount the feet to the typewriter. This is either because the universal has slightly thicker screws in the back than other Underwood models, or the screws on my particular machine aren't the original ones. I'm not sure. Anyways i just widened the holes a bit with a drill bit and made it work. If someone expected the feet they wouldn't be able to tell. I'm really happy with these feet. I'm so glad I can finally place my typewriter on surfaces without making (the old feet were so distorted the typewriter was resting on the screws). So overall, I'd recommend these feet.Read full review

The quality is very good - original equipment quality. But the rubber is hard (as it has to be to meet the stress of holding the machine in the case), and it take work to fit the flange of the front feet into the hole in the machine. Using a few drops of oil and taking your time is essential, but the results are worth it.

I installed the new feet on a 1935 Underwood Champion, and they work extremely well. The instructions were helpful and the whole process took only a few minutes. The machine is stabile and doesn't move at all during typing.
