Charging seems to be a little slower then the controller it replaced. Display is dim during the day, but that also reduces the load on the batteries. I'm using it for a portable system, for camping, would be nice if it had a switch to turn off the batteries and the solar panels on/off. (I built a switch box.) Charges to 12.5 and seems to want to maintain that voltage. Float mode seems to be 12.5-13.5. Max charge rate I've seen is 2.5a but I have not put much of a load on the batteries yet. Connecting screws are not wide enough to use a wire connector on, ended up soldering the ends of the wire and slipping them under the screw clampdown. Only been connected for about a week.

Had this hooked up to my renogy suitcase. On two batteries now, it seemed to be working fine for 1/2 hour or so, then starts flashing and does not charge them. My voltmeter has the batteries at 12.4. But the charge controller says they are at over 13 and it acting as if they are full. Now my house battery is not charging with the converter like it was before. ?? I would not recommend this. Spend more money and be happy.

simple and shows volts and input/output amps which is brilliant. USB is very handy. only problem i found, the terminals are fairly small for 20A connections - i used a spade terminal and got away with it for the battery connections, then single short wire to bus bar for output.

This CMG charge controller is a good product. If you have 300 watts of panel (at 12 volt) this is the only low cost charger you need. At a glance you can see real time charging rate in amps and volts as well as the temperature of the temp sensor on the controller. The usb and 12 volt plugs give you options that are useful. It is a shame this controller is not available in 30 amp as well.

I have it hooked up to a 24 volt battery bank, very nice to have 12 and USB voltages on the face, however when you use the face power button it also turns off the main power. I do not use as a charge controller but yet a low voltage disconnect for critical loads. nice display of voltage and amps. better if the on/off switch only affected the 12v and USB outlets. I would and will likely buy another to have on hand for future projects.
