With 2TB HDDs still on the expensive side, the 2TB version was a bargain. At the time I did not realize that 3.5 inch is code for Desktop PC internal HDD and 2.5 inch are code for laptop internal HDDs. To get these to run as a portable HDD, you need a 2.5 inch HDD enclosure box; and will not require a wall plug. 3.5in also needs. HDD enclosure box but needs a wall plug which comes with the kit. Partition geru, (free program) will set up any HDD for use with a laptop.

    Heavy, loud, yet reliable.

    The hard drive I received was from 2014 and was not new. However, it had very little use on it and according to the S.M.A.R.T. data is still in perfect health. It was used to replace a failing 1TB drive that was used for backups. Note: this is an enterprise grade hard drive so it isn't exactly quiet. I would not recommend using this drive for a boot drive as it takes approximately 6.5 seconds to spin up. As for reliability, I have had many bad experiences with 2.5" Toshiba hard drives. I was willing to give their 3.5" line of drives a test. Only time will tell.

    Louder than expected, but still a good value

    These drives still have a lot of hours left on them but are quite noisy in "seek and read/write" mode due to their sturdy construction, which is not an issue in a server farm, but quite loud in your home PC especially when de-fragging at night.

    excellent drive

    I bought this when an old drive failed. Didn't expect it to perform as well as it does. Quieter than my old drive and it seems to perform a bit faster. Good deal.
