Kingston makes good memory. However, I purchased this Kingston Technology 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin PC2100 266Mhz DDR ECC Registered Server Ram by mistake as not realizing it was for Servers. I later purchased the Non-ECC version , Kingston 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR 266mhz NON-ECC 184 Pin SDRAM, Part Number KTC-PR266/1G and it worked perfectly in my 2002 Compaq Presario 5423US. My Compaq PC originally came with 2 x 256MB at 512MB which said was only upgradeable to 1GB which I eventually did in 2003. I suppose it was fast according to year 2002 standards and when compared to year 2017 against DDR4 , you know that answer. After discovering info about the Compaq motherboard here in 2017, it was capable of 2GB total. Even though the ECC type would not have worked I found that the Non-ECC functioned very well , passed both Memory and Stress tests without any errors. Read full review
