Product Information

The SMC8150L2 is a feature-rich 10/100/1000BASE-T standalone managed switch. This gigabit edge switch is designed to handle high bandwidth applications and capable of reaching up to 100Gbps with a non-blocking single chip switching architecture. The switch includes IP Clustering supporting up to 32 units from both the SMC61xxL2 and the SMC81xxL2 families. This enables single IP management across the network increasing management efficiency. It also provides cost-effective, gigabit ethernet switching for bandwidth-intensive networks that require advanced switching features: Quality of Service (QoS) with four levels of priority, weighted fair queuing and L2/3/4 IP. With these features the SMC8150L2 switch ensures smooth transmission of mission critical data; VLANs based on frame tags, ports or protocol, support for automatic GVRP LAN registration and Multiple Spanning Tree provides maximum security and bandwidth efficiency. The comprehensive security features include RADIUS, IEEE802.1x, SSH, SSL, TACACS+, and ACL. This switch is ideal for SMB and enterprise workgroup installations.

I hardly ever do this, but I buy new fro a reason. Yet seller shipped an unpackaged item that could have been an off-brand. When I brought it to the seller's attention, he made it my problem. Seller then sent me an image of some bulk cables packaged with a label that could have been be created from a home printer. After looking at the listing closer, there's an excuse at the end of the description (with a link to that same image). I would have returned it, but was in a time jam.

    Excelent Value for money

    people only value premium brands... not because they understand anything about these equipments but because they hear about companies using them... I've always been an opensystems fan... so I'm used to look at the specs. This SMC is brilliant fast, very configurable and above all affordable... unlike some you can manage 90% of it's functions from HTML but like them you do have a command line console interface... and again unlike some brands this has a pretty standard language, and also a normal un-overpriced price tag. I now have a 100gb backbone and no network bottleneck :)
