A very nice monitor.
One selling feature for this monitor, as opposed to a new one, was the fact that you can rotate the screen. I do like having that feature, but I really don't use it very much. The Monitor has a very good picture, and it can be adjusted automatically at the press of a button. I have only had one issue with it, otherwise I would have given it a rating of excellent. I have to give a bit of a story to explain the issue. When I received my new computer is loaded with Windows Vista. I connected the HP monitor with a VGA cable, it looked and worked great. I then ordered and received my upgrade to Windows 7, the monitor still looked and worked great. I don't know exactly what happened, but one morning shortly after installing Windows 7 the monitor did not look the same. I assume this was related ... One selling feature for this monitor, as opposed to a new one, was the fact that you can rotate the screen. I do like having that feature, but I really don't use it very much. Anyway, I found a DVI cable and connected it with that instead of the VGA cable, and now it looks great again. So, I do highly recommend this monitor, but only if you're able to connect it with a DVI cable. If your computer does not have a DVI connection, or you don't plan on getting a video card that does have a DVI connection, then you may want something else. That's my only complaint. The monitor has a great picture, the ability to rotate into portrait mode for long pages or spreadsheets, the monitor itself looks great, with a heavy-duty stand. I was definitely impressed by the weight of this monitor and stand. We have a 22 inch Acer widescreen LCD on my wife's computer and it weighs about half as much as this monitor. When I first removed this from the box I was so impressed by its weight I had to put our shipping scales. If I remember correctly, it was about 17 pounds. To me, to have your unit normally means that it is built better. I know that's not always true, but it is a fairly good general rule. If you find one at a good price and you're able to connect it with a DVI cable, I would say get it. I was able to purchase mine for $130, including shipping. I hope this review helps you with your decision for you to monitor.

Great deal for a great LCD HD monitor. This monitor is wide, full of bright detail, quiet, sturdy, and flips to a vertical position easily. Fast response, no apparent shearing in the fast moving videos. It seemed to have a dead (ON) pixel, but it resolved itself with a quick touch of the pixel in question. The pixel was stuck-on as green, and now is not apparently stuck-on, and functions perfectly. (This could be a burn-in issue. I have seen this before in new monitors. There is nothing wrong with them, they just stick-on, and a tiny physical touch resolves the odd pixel.) The only down-sides... These were of no real concern to me, just observations. The internal speakers are pointed at the wall behind the monitor. The sound is hollow, with an echo, as if everything is in a cave. People ... Great deal for a great LCD HD monitor. The "Contrast" and "Brightness", do not seem to function as expected. Contrast seems to be "LCD brightness", while Brightness seems to be "Back-light brightness". On a normal computer, contrast makes black darker, and white brighter at the same time, spreading the shade-band, or turning it grey on the high end. This just makes everything brighter or darker, but not the same way as the actual brightness control?!? The horizontal lock-position does have play. The undesired issue, is the fact that after turning the monitor from vertical, back to horizontal, the spinning does not stop at the horizontal position, it travels a little further. For example, it feels like you are adjusting a picture on a wall after rotation. It does not just go back to a true horizontal position, it goes a little past it. (Looks crooked when it locks into the horizontal position.) Apparently, the monitor stand is built into the monitor, and can not be removed for wall mounting or for swing-arm mounting. This will require a flat horizontal surface to rest on.

HP w2207 Rescued from recycle bin!
I volunteer at a Habitat Restore that recycles electronics and obtained 2 of these, one was a 2207h and the other was a 2207. Well of course both of them did not work. When I took the 2207 apart I found that 2 of the capacitors on the main board were bad (Domed tops) So I replaced them with ones I took out of another defective monitor. This fixed the problem and I'm very happy with this monitor especially since it was 'Free' I have not been able to figure out what's wrong with the 2207h (Yet) Being that 2 of almost identical monitors came in to be recycled around the same time. I come to the conclusion that they may not be all that reliable in the long run, but there's a lot of other electronic items that are prone to failure like LCD TV's. A Sight for Sore Eyes
I work all day in front of a computer so a great screen is important to me. Now that I have a bulging disk in my neck and need to avoid hunching over to see the screen, clarity is doubly important. I used two side-by-side Dell screens for years, but found it harder to see Word documents and decided to upgrade to a single larger screen. The HP w2207 is justifiably highly rated. It has outstanding clarity even in bright sunlight and is bright enough for work in a darkened room. I can sit back in my chair to rest my neck and not squint to see what I'm reading or typing. The stand is reasonably adjustable vertically so I'm never looking down at the screen. The colors are excellent. My only quibble is that the screen did not come with the optimal connection cord to my computer to get the ... I work all day in front of a computer so a great screen is important to me.
