I'm a child of the sixties. I owned just about every single Aurora monster model ever made...... Except "Big Frankie". For one thing, it was the price. $4.98 back then would be equal to about $50 today! My local King's department store used to sell the .98 Cent models for .77 cents. And back then, I was lucky if I could convince my mom to buy me even one of those models. $4.98 would have been out of the question. Another reason I never owned it was that you couldn't find it. It was only one store that I recall in my neighborhood that had one. It sat on their shelves for almost 10 years before it was eventually sold fit .50 cents when they had a sidewalk sale circa 1974. By then shrink wrap had been torn off, the box was in pretty sad conditions and it was probably missing several parts. Many kids had probably handled it over the years and then when they discovered what the price was, put it back on the shelf. Now that Moebius has faithfully reproduced the fantastic box art and the model, Us big kids can finally add "The One That Got Away" to our collection.Read full review

I built this kit And all rest of the original Aurora Monster model kits in my preteen & teen years. Of course back then "Big Frankie" sold for $4.98 with regular kits going for 98 cents and the slightly larger ones (Godzilla, etc.) for $1.49. I was 13 years old again with my copies of Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine spread out the floor and Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman on Chiller TV. Great time and great memories flashing back to me. All in all agreat deal. All my fellow monster kids need to grab this kit and return to those hallowed days of yesterday!

This item was originally made by the now-famous (and defunct) Aurora Plastics back in the 1960's and has been reintroduced by Moebius. A quality product that is wonderful and fun and a bit of a time-capsule for me......Moebius does it right and I am grateful that they have reintroduced other old kits and creating new ones for old 20th century pop culture.. As there is no computer screen or joystick, my kids and nieces do not understand it......Oh well....... I am not sure that Moebius still makes these so grab one while you can at a reasonable price!!! - LK

This model is an reproduction from the original "Gigantic Frankenstein" from 1964. I was about 8 years old, and couldn't afford to buy it! I have not opened the kit yet. It will remain a collector model for now.
