The Mobius 1969 Ford F-100 kit is a new tooling of a short-box pick-up truck. It's based on the model maker's 1971 F-100 -- also a new kit in 2015. Mobius is fairly new to this adult model building market, having done '52,'53 and '54 Hudson kits, '55 & '56 Chrysler 300's, and a 1965 Plymouth Satellite, along with the two F-150's. This kit, of the '69, was a special limited edition release through Model King, which in the past has resurrected old mostly AMT kits. This kit differs from the companion '71 in several ways. First, it's a model of a down-market vehicle compared to the top-of the line '71. Second, while the '71 comes with a replica of Ford's 351 Cleveland V8 engine, this kit has a Ford Straight-six, one of the few 1/25 scale in-line Ford power plants ever produced. Third, only a few thousand kits were produced and it's now out of production and out of stock. All of the Mobius kits are superior to virtually anything else on the market, save higher priced Japanese kits. You can still find this kit on line. It went -- during it's short retail career -- for around $35.00. Likely higher now at on-line auctions.Read full review

The Moebius 69 F100 kit is well executed but has a few glaring flaws. First, the good; it has all of the amenities that modern kits should have, platform interior, separate frame, good proportions, crisp detail and high parts count, similar to, say, a Tamiya kit. The instruction booklets and the packaging of these Moebius kits are a sight to behold. Now the bad; the grille...the headlight bezels molded to the grille are each about 1 1/2 scale inches too wide and so are the parklamps. the bezels also need to protrude out further by perhaps a scale inch, the headlamps need to be more flush in the bezel, and the character definition of the bezels needs to be "softer". i sincerely hope that some enterprising and talented resin caster steps up to the plate and provides a corrected part as i can see a lot of work ahead to make them right. The inline six 240 engine, while having a pretty nice array of well executed/detailed attaching parts, suffers from being "wedged" for fitment. In other words, the pan rail surface and the valve cover surface taper together slightly towards the front when the block halves are viewed from the side; also a difficult fix. The cylinder head is also not separate (disappointing), and is rather featureless. I may end up scratch-building a block and head outright. if your aim is an engine swap anyway, this should not bother you, put the 428 SCJ from one of the Revell Mustangs and you are good to go!Read full review

First of all this the first time this series of Ford pickup has been offered. Overall it is an outstanding kit. All parts fit together well. I have bought several. By swapping parts with the new 1971 F-100 and a stepside bed from a couple other kits many variations can be built. The only three drawbacks are that wheels are glued in place and will not rotate, the instructions could be a little better in explaining how things go together and last the hubcaps are completely incorrect for a 1/2 ton truck. They would be perfect for a 3/4 ton truck. There are correct hubcaps available from resin manufacturers. Non of these are big issues. I have been building models kits for years and this kit does rank as one of the best. Look forward to more in the series. Very highly recommended.

Good year to represent and the detail gives it the look of a 'model' and not a toy. Nice touch is the detailed 6 cylinder engine. Clear instructions and they go a step further with paint schemes.
