You dont see this radio come up very often in this condition.The only minor repair was to the left lower leg on Peter pan,hardly noticed!This is a highlycollectible Depression era all wood radio,withdesign features that are stunningly Ornate! GorgeousDecotrimaccentsand original chassis! All originalBakeliteknobs,and original grill cloth with the Hand Carved iconic Peter Pan grill,and Illuminated Dial! Exhibiting gorgeous highly polished veneer! (NOT the Candy coated look!) This radio wasmfg. c-1932,fastapproaching85 years old and remarkably still working.
This is a radio i sold back two years ago to an Avid collector of small wood radios andassortmentof other bakelites that i will be listing for him,he has asked me to sell because of failing health reasons. I can tell you he just displayed and rarely played this set. I have looked it over and still looks and plays as it did when he purchased it!
The grill cloth was in excellent original condition,but the cabinet needed a full resto.I think you will agree by looking at this stunningrestoration that i spent asignificant amount of time on this gorgeous radio,there is a minor chip on the tuning knob and hardly noticed, very clean for this 80+ year vintage.This set isfor the avid radioenthusiastand purist antique radio collector that understands the operation of these very early designs,and the amount of TLC that goes into a restoration of this delicate little gem of a set!
The chassis is in very good condition,there were no major repairs done over its life! We replaced all of the vital caps as needed along withnew filters.All tubes tested excellent, and original Balloon style bulbs! The overall look now is lighter than the original deep Walnut color,however very close example and all detailed to the "T"...
The only NON original items will be the power cord that needed to be replaced with a repro of the same stylecloth covered and a period style 30s vintage plug
This is a 4 tube depression era transformer chassis radio with Am only band in working condition with the use of an extended longer wire attached! This is a very earlyexperimental minimal two circuit designed radio with a simple basic design and will need as much as 50' of antenna wire and chassis ground for best reception,we have attached a shortlengthof antennawire and able to receive a few stations with nice sounding audio in our area,this is not a hi performance radio and should not be used for every day listening.
Youwill be purchasing a true Restored CONDITION working part of early American history todisplay as a centerpiece in any vintage radio collection,truly near 85year ANTIQUE to enjoy for generations!
