Welcome to the no reserve sale listing of this finely chased silver fruit bowl by the firm of Jacob Tostrup, Goldsmiths in Oslo. This wasprobably designed by Torolf Prytz the grandson-in-law of Jacob Tostrup as it is dated 1908, eighteen years after the death of the founder when Prytz took over the firm.The rich and flowing garland of daffodils and tulips (Spring flowers) manages to be baroque and art nouveau at the same time.
Condition: fine hand tooling isstill visible. There isheavy tarnish in the recesses and I have left that as collectors have their own tastes when it comes to cleaning silver.
Size: 8 inches wide x 3 1/4 high inches / 20.5 cm wide x 8.25 cm high, approximately.
830 purity standard (the traditional Norwegian standard).
