Jean Pouyat Limoges Hand Painted Grapes & Gold Pitcher Signed By Jules Brauer
Price: US $147.50
This is an early 20th century pitcher made by Jean Pouyat Limoges, France. The fine porcelain blank was then sent to Jules H. Brauer Chicago, Illinois where he personally hand painted this marvelous design of grapes over rich Fall foliage colors with a heavy gold at the rim and on the handle. The inside of the spout is pale yellow and it is white inside. This is signed \"J Brauer\" on the left of the bottom of the handle. The pitcher measures 5 1/8\" tall to the top of the handle. It is 6 3/4\" between the spout and edge of handle and 5 1/8\" wide in the middle. The bottom is marked \"J.P./L. France\" this underglaze mark was used between 1891 and 1932. It is also marked \"Jul. H. Brauer Hand Painted China\" in his green logo mark used between 1905 and 1910. I understand it is a rare and special piece to have been made by Jean Pouyat and hand painted by Mr. Brauer himself. I believe this is in exceptional condition for an over 100 year old porcelain pitcher. I found a faint 1/4\" scratch on the back and a tiny bit of wear on the top of the gold handle. All other bubbles and bumps are under the glaze. Please view my photographs for more description. This piece belonged to my friend\'s Mother who used it only for display. It has been in storage for decades. Some more pieces from her display are also on sale at this time, a bowl painted by Pickard and a T&V plate. I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping. This will be mailed to you double boxed. Shipping will cost a bit more, but you will receive it safely.
