John Landman 8 ft. 3/2, classic bamboo fly rod, 8 strip construction
Price: US $810.00
One of the finest examples of John G. Landman rods in existence today. This rod has its origin in the 1890\'s with all the classic Landman features. It has the Landman \"August 19th, 1890\" patent reel seat (which is stamped on the sliding ring) of Ivoriod with the patented screw locking mechanism noted as a spiral groove. The doubled intermediate wraps at the ferrules and the copper waterproof inserts into the bottom of the male ferrules as well as all NiS hardware with all ferrules rolled, seamed and soldered. This ferrule system is the finest and most precise fitting we have ever seen, just extraordinary.
The rod is wrapped in Chinese red silks tipped in black and full red intermediate wraps. The cork grip is made of the older style 1/8\"cork rings and the very typical Landman winding check. It also has the English twist snake guides and is in its original form fitted velvet covered case. the outer rod case or pouch is of canvas and leather, very classy.
The stripping guide and the tip tops are all of agate mounted in NiS. The bamboo is of the Calcutta variety seen most often prior to 1900.
This rod is in excellent and original condition. I purchased the rod from a Minnesota rod maker and collector in the early 2000\'s.
This is another museum quality classic fly rod close to 125 years old and is of the more unusual 8 strip construction. This rod is certainly fish-able today but with great care.
This exact rod is view-able in Jeff Hatton\'s Rod Crafting book and can be seen on pages 112-113.
