KODAK MEDALIST SUPERMATIC No. 2 CAMERA w/ EKTAR f/3.5 & 100mm LENS 1941-1948
Price: US $100.00

I must begin by stating that I amnowhere close to being a camera aficionado. My knowledge of this area islimited to the occasional factoid my dad would offer when I was a teenager, anda few crash-course sessions about the technical features and historicalsignificance of the devices -- courtesy of my buddy Mark.

That being said, the followingsale offers a piece of my late father\'s vast vintage camera collection. Hewas a genuine enthusiast -- so much so that he and his good friend Mark spentmany of their weekends attending camera shows here in the New England area, hoping that their next gem of a living room display piece was just aday-breaking drive away. When dad passed away eleven years ago, all of hisfamily members and friends agreed that he would want his cameras to end up inthe possession of someone who could truly appreciate their physical beauty, technical capabilities and historical lineage. I have personally taken on thetask of listing these classic pieces on .

This particular sale is for a KodakMedalist Supermatic No. 2 Rangefinder camera, which has an f/3.5 100mm Ektar lensand a brown leather carrying case. Research has taught us that cameras likethis one were produced in Rochester, NY between the years of 1941-1948.

With a shift of the eye, the shootercan focus on the subject before framing the subject since both parts are inview when looking through the finder. The Kodak Medalist was built to last as it features a sturdy, highquality and heavy build. Many roll filmcameras of the era featured a folding design, but the aluminum body of theMedalist was stronger and constructed to protect the internal mechanisms of thecamera.

The item has not been tested, so no promisescan be made that a functional camera is being offered here. I also can’tguarantee that all mechanical pieces/parts are accounted for.

As far as damage is concerned, itsphysical condition can best be described as \"very good.\"Imperfections are as follows:

-The exterior surface has a coupleof small dirt spots on the sides – near where the silver latches are.

-There appear to be small dust ormold particles on the inside of the small viewer glass piece.

-Most of the silver metal sectionsaround the camera have dirt on them, but this should be removable with a goodcleaning.

-On the leather carrying case, thegrip handle is moderately worn, but it remains structurally sound and not indanger of breaking. There are scattered worn patches of leather – mainly aroundthe portion of the case that covers the protruding lens.

Whether you plan on using thiscamera for photographic purposes, or simply as an antique to display in yourfavorite room, several decades-worth of photo-snapping history is -- with hope-- about to join the collection of a camera connoisseur!
