This is for an absolutely stunning and super rare sterling silver table lighter in the form of a snake. The snakes head is sterling silver with a flattened head and the impressive body is made fromthe horn of ablackbuck antelope. These table pieces were made from trophy hunts held in India and fashioned as different animals to showcase. The body has beennicely polished to show the texture and curve of the horn and the snakes head is beautifully made with a very stylised look and finely defined with scales. The snake has red and black eyes inset into the silver and the open mouth holds the originallighter which is a taper threaded through a silver ball. A quick search for silver snake lighter will give you and idea of how rare and what kind of cost these pieces command, my reserve is £1500,one similar was sold by a top London sale house recently for more than double that after commission and it was missing the ballfor the wick. This one is in pristine condition and it comes with its original ball wick holderThe silver carries a full set of English sterling silver hallmarks dating this to London 1905 along with the makers initials J.B made we think by Joseph Braham. It is in absolute excellent condition with no damage to it anywhere. It measures 520mm (19\") long and stands 150mm (5.5\") tall.
