LARGE G. WOSTENHOLM IXL HAWK BILL PRUNING STAG Civil War POCKET KNIFE 1850-60\'S
Price: US $128.77
DESCRIPTION: This sale is for a very early George Wostenholm I*XL Hawkbill Pruner pocket knife from the pre & Civil War timeframe. The knife measures 4-1/2\" closed. The stamp on the blade is George Wostenholm Sheffield. Note there is no England. It has matching stag handles with a rat tail steel bolster and a flat steel butt plate at the back of the handle. The blade has a strong resisting backspring with a strong force both opening and closing, and a half stop. The blade does show some use with age spots and patina but it remains in very good condition. There is a small shrinkage crack in the handles at the backspring pin. Otherwise, the handles are solid and tight on their steel linings. This is a very early hawkbill by one of England\'s early knife makers. It will certainly make a great addition to any collection, or a very nice authentic addition to any Civil War reenactment Soldier\'s Ditty Bag. I am offering this knife with . Good Luck
