Original Large black forest cuckoo clock imported and distributed by Breitinger & Sons in Philadelphia. There company started in the middle of the 1890\'s. and up to the1930\'s then the war broke out cutting off the supply of both cuckoo clock and chiming clock movements. So this makes this a nice piece of history. The date of this clock is between 1900 and 1905, also on the back of this is two cleaning & oiling dates one reads 7/22/37 & 10/13/51and for this sale it was again professionally cleaned and oiled 10/15/16 the wood was also treated inside and out to help preserve this wonderful clock.The following is a run down of its original age, it has the wood flapping wing cuckoo bird, nailed on numbers on the wood dial, it has the celluloid hands, two side access doors, rare adjustable pendulum, cast iron weights, cast brassLyraGerman movement, bellows with original leathers not replacements, rear label still intact, clock case is stamped #53570. This clock runs and keeps good time cuckoo\'s on the half hour and gives you the proper calls on the hour such as five o\'clock it cuckoo\'s five times followed by the striking gong. what always amazes me is that the cuckooing and the gong sound is the same sound they heard when they assembled it. I inspected this clock real good and this is what I see the right wing is clipped alittle bit, the minute hand has been repaired but thats ok because you want original and they did a good job. top crest glued from birds claw to the right can\'t see from front, and left lower leaf glued, I would say from factory because its perfect and can\'t notice from front. please keep in mind this over hundred years old and its almost perfect. please look at the pictures. Just saw on someone selling eagle top for 275. & the pendulum for 175. I think thats alitle much but it gives you an idea of the value of this clock. Clock measurements are approx 16 1/2\'\' top of bird to bottom of leaf & 11\'\' wide.I will supply unpacking & setup instructions and other informative reading information.
