Up for sale is a Lionel O gauge prewar outfit # 268 that includes # 256 dual motor orange electric profile locomotive, three matching four wheel truck passenger cars, two # 710 Pullmans, # 712 observation, boxes for each of the component pieces and the set box. This impressive prewar set was the top of the line O gauge offering for a number of years until being displaced by sets with steam locomotives in the late 20\'s. Each of the two trucks on the locomotive is powered with dual manual reversing units actuated by a lever that sticks out of the body on one side of the loco that can be seen in the first photo. Cosmetically this locomotive is in exceptional condition particularly considering its age. The paint is clean and bright and the black frame has only minor chips here and there throughout its finish. The rubber stamped lettering is in good condition giving evidence that the locomotive has had minimal handling over the years. In looking carefully at the forth photo you might notice the center window is a replacement that is glued in place. The original window was missing and the mounting tabs are broken off. The rear window in that same photo also has the bottom tab broken off of the body so the bottom of the window is glued in place. This is particularly important for the winner to note since the tendency is to pick-up the loco near the center pushing on the cab windows that may cause the center window in particular, to pop off of the inside of the body. In looking at the photo showing the bottom of the loco you will see some of the wheel flanges are starting to disintegrate so I lubricated the loco and track tested it to see how it would do with the original wheels. I found it runs well but a little wobbly and pulled 12 Lionel prewar freight cars I normally pull with a # 263. I did purchase replacement wheels but have decided that since the original wheels work I am not going to replace them. It would not be a problem if the winner\'s desire is to have this set as a shelf piece. And even if you want to run it, you can get away with the original wheels for a least a while. (If the winner would like the reproduction wheels he or she may contact me so we can make arrangements for their purchase price of $32.00 for an 8 wheel set.) The passenger cars are in matching condition with just some minor chips in the paint. Perhaps the biggest blemish is on the left rear end of the observation car roof that can be seen in the eleventh photo. They have a clean and bright orange finish with solid lettering. The trucks, couplers and collection rollers are in excellent operating condition. The set box lid has been taped on some corners using duct tape, the loco box is complete with all flaps and the car boxes are very clean and square with all flaps on one end and no flaps on the other. While this set may not be perfect, it is the nicest one I have seen in many years and it is certainly worthy of a place of honor on a collector\'s shelf!

** We will combine items to save you money whenever possible.

** We generally charge 1-2 dollars for packing and handling. However, larger items or an sale with multiple items (a train set for example) may incur a larger handling fee. If you check my response you will see manycomments about the quality of my packaging. However I remind you good packing takes time and costs money.

** When shipping via UPS we are not able to ship to P.O. or A.P.O Boxes. An actual street address is required.

PAYMENT POLICIES

** If you win multiple items do not pay until you have received an invoice from me combining shipping and handling costs.

** Full payment of invoice is expected within 7 days of sending your invoice. If we do not receive your payment in that time frame and you have not notified us of special circumstances, we will use the Non Paying buyer Alert system to remind you of your obligation.

** Payment - We prefer PayPal.

** Pennsylvania residents will pay 6% Pennsylvania Sales Tax.
