Lot of 2 Vintage Cuckoo Clocks Made in Germany & Switzerland Birds Deer Ornate
Price: US $133.61
Let me begin with stating that I have no idea whether these work. I bought at an estate sale these thinking I could get them running and have an instant cuckoo clock collection. I couldn\'t even untangle the chains before giving up. I have no idea what I was thinking. Regardless, they have been sitting in a box collecting dust. Now we are moving and must clear out our current inventory plus other random awesomeness that is taking up space like these clocks.
The first one is a darker brown and had a bird motif. The front piece is detached and needs to be glued or pinned back on. It is not broken, just off. The top piece comes off and on anyway. It is currently off. The face of the clock reads, \"Germany\" as does a carved portion in back. The bird inside is an adorable little blue bird that looks like his top half is missing. He needs to be replaced or have feathers glued over his missing portion or something. The weights and pendulum are currently off. The chains are untangled but I have no idea how to get this working. It makes clock alarm dinging sounds when moved. It measures 9\" by 5.5\" without the bird pieces attached. The metal pendulum piece that I assume goes with this clock has Japan stamped on it. It could be for the other clock but the wooden pendulum matches the wood of the other clock better. There are five pine cone weights total. I don\'t know which ones go with which clock. Neither did the good folks at the estate sale. The wood is scratched and worn here and there but no chunks are missing or anything like that. The second clock measures 9.5\" x 6\" without the decoration, larger with it. The top piece with the crossed rifles and deer bust looks good with the exception of one of the antlers which needs to be glued. It is not totally off but it\'s loose. The front piece with the rabbit/pheasant/hunter\'s bag is attached, sturdy, and in good shape. The chains on this clock are dirty and tangled. They aren\'t terribly tangled but I gave up after about ten seconds because they were making my hands dirty and I can\'t figure out the counterweight system, anyway. there is a dancing crew up top and from the inside of the clock, I\'m guessing there is some sort of musical accompaniment as it looks like a little music playing roll from a player piano in there. It\'s in the bottom right area of the pic. I don\'t know that it plays music. I\'m guessing. And I couldn\'t untangle the not that badly tangled chains so hopefully you will be more knowledgeable than I am and understand the little gears and such. There is no country etched in this clock but the side does say it has Swiss movement. The pendulum piece on this one is a wooden leaf. The counter weight things are pine cones but again, there were three total in the box and I don\'t know which gets two and which gets three. This one has more holes on bottom if that helps. The little bird above the waltzing people looks good on this clock.
I have no idea whether either works. I have no idea how much work either needs. I understand that I am quite useless in this description so I\'m taking lots of pics. The idea of having these was romantic but the reality is that I will package them like priceless works of art and ship them to the highest buyer. I have no idea what they are worth. I got them with some other less complicated but less cool clocks at an estate sale. here. I hope someone can get these working and cuckooing again!
