LOUIS MARX COAST DEFENSE TIN WIND-UP TOY WITH AIRPLANE

I believe this dates to the 1930\'s and it belonged to my father as a boy.

Manufactured by Louis Marx & Co, NY.

I have read that there were 4 versions of this toy... with an airplane, with a zeppelin, and with and without a curved background. This includes the original airplane, but there is no background. My belief is that there never was a background with this particular one. From what I\'ve read, the four holes along the back apparently existed regardless of whether it was a version with a background or not. There are no scratches or marks at those holes to indicate that a background piece was removed.

The plane rotates and the cannons move up and down and forward and reverse. I hesitate to wind the key too far for fear of over-winding it, but it rotates properly by moving the rotating lever on the underside.

All parts are original and have not been restored in any way. No box.

Very nice condition with hardly any scratches or marks.

Approximately 9\" in diameter. Airplane is suspended about 6-1/2\" above the base. It is removable and will be wrapped separately for protection when shipped.
