Thislovely, antique, Victorian, solid silver pepperette is of classical ‘urn’ form;having a pierced, high domed, pull-off lid; embossed scrolling foliatedecoration to the body and stands on a spreading circular foot to a weighted, squareplinth base.

Thereis a very small dint to one corner of the square plinth but other than this andthe usual fine surface scratching, all commensurate with age and use, it is invery good condition for 120 years old; and is without a monogram or crest.

Itmeasures approx. 9.3 cm high to the top of the finial; 2.6 cm x 2.6 cm acrossthe square plinth and weighs 56.4 grams.

Itis fully hallmarked to the foot and has the lion passant and date letter to thecollar of the lid.

Theassay office is the much sought after and highly collectable Chester, with thedate letter for 1897 and the maker’s mark for Colen Hewer Cheshire.
