Mikimoto 14K Yellow Gold Pearl Brooch

Recent estate find. The lower backside is marked K14 and has the Mikimoto maker’s mark (the letter M). This solid yellow gold brooch measures approximately 1-1/8” x 1-3/8”. It weighs 6 grams. There are twelve pearls that measure in the area of 4mm to 5mm wide. I do not have the box.

The clasp functions as well as it should. The way the item is made, you do have to push the stickpin in some to clasp it, and when you open the clasp – the pin kind of springs or flings out some.

The brooch is in excellent condition. The gold has a bit of light scratching. The pearls look quite fantastic.

There’s noticeable glue residue around where the prongs are inserted inside the pearls. This chunky and yellowish glue residue is maker related. Though it can be seen upon close inspection with a naked eye – the glue residue is most ugly when reviewed with a magnifier and bright light.
