Clean lantern – could use some bodyshop work or leave as is.
Up for sale is a Chicago Milwaukee &St. Paul Railway Loeffelholz brass top bell bottom kerosene lantern. The brass top has some minor dents but very acceptable – and isstamped LOEFFELHOLZ & CO. MILWAUKEE. The globe retaineradjustment moves freely. The frame is straight with nothing loose.Note the frame top has pitting and is painted cast iron gray, as isthe bell.
The extended base # 39 globe is cast“C.M. & St. P. R.R” and has some rim chips and a little bakedon smoke, but no cracks or other issues. The globe is about 5 -1/8inches tall.
The twist off bell bottom has had somerepair work. When I got it the bottom was rusted out so repaired itusing a tin can lid. There is some pitting and perhaps bondo work inthe bell – some sanding would smooth it out. The bell is stampedCM&STPRR and the brass latch is stamped L&P MILWAUKEE – forLoeffelholz and Prier.
Loeffelholz & Prier started in 1867and was Loeffelholz & Company from 1881 to 1905.
A scarce older lantern for yourcollection.
