In the collection there are Steiffs, Schucos, and Berg bears to name a few. However, this little bear is a mystery to me, and I don\'t know who made him, or for certain how old he is.

He stands a mere4 1/4\" tall and is only 3 1/4\" high when seated. He is made from very firmly stuffed excelsior and was covered in a mohair plush that has thinned down to the fabric backing for the most part. He is fully jointed including a swivel neck that turns from side to side. The joints appear to be wire or metal disk attachmentsunderneath the mohair. I can see themetal pokingthrough a little, especially in the area of the hips. Even as small as he is, the bear is made with contrastingbrown fabricpaw pads and a little hump in his back. His nose and smiling mouth are embroidered in thick black cotton thread. The stitches on his noserun vertically. I can see that the eyes are metal underneath the black paint that is partially scraped off on the right eye. I believe they are metal beads as I can just barely see theknot atthe back of his head that would anchorthe thread that runs through and holds them on.

This little mystery bear is quite a charmer, and gets along well with others, as seen from my last two pictures. In addition to his other bear friend, I show him with an antique bisque headArmand Marseilledoll. The items seen in my photographs are not included here, but the doll is available in a separate listing.
