Clean, straight, and unusual Keystone railroad lantern with nicered etched globe.

Up for sale is a clean Minneapolis & St. Louis Railroad Keystonetall globe, twist off font kerosene railroad lantern with a redetched globe . The brim is stamped “M & St L. R.R.”. Thetop is also stamped KEYSTONE LANTERN COMPANY PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA,and THE “CASEY”. Complete with globe retainer, globe, font, andburner. Double guard frame is straight and tight with nothingloose. Note the top is dark colored where there is no tin.

The #39 tall (5- 1/8 inch) red Corning globe is etched “M &St. LRR.” in the usual smaller letters the M & St. L used. Theglobe has some fleabite rim chips but no cracks or other issues.

The twist off font (kerosene tank) has no holes or dents. Thewick moves via a unique mechanism; a knurled knob on the bottom ofthe font when turned rotates the burner, in turn rotating a starwheel. Burner is stamped K-C. Knob rotates just fine.

Keystone was around from 1901 to 1930. This lantern does not havea globe seat so it may be an earlier version, but I don\'t know –maybe all were made without globe seats.
