MUSEUM QUALITY CASED SEVRES VINCENNES SOFT-PASTE PORCELAIN CUP & SAUCER ~ RARE
Price: US $264.11
Being offered is an Exquisite 18th C. Cased Sevres Vincennes Soft-Paste Porcelain Cup & Saucer ~ Extremely Rare ~ Sevres (Vincennes) \"Double-Louis\" Crossed \"L\"\'s Mark (1751-1753) marked on the cup, both cup & saucer are marked with the number 1900 in red. This is a matched set. Both pieces have a rose colored background with gilded bands, floral decor, intricate designs and trim. The cup has a large medallion which features a boy playing the flute as he looks at the sheet music with his dog close by, there is a landscape with a house in the background. The center of the saucer is adorned with a large spray of multi-colored flowers. These two pieces of Sevres soft-paste porcelain are truly magnificent and have a marvelous ability to absorb the enamel colors into the glaze, thus the decoration becomes one with the surface upon which it is painted, unlike the hard-paste types in which enamel brush strokes stand upon the surface of the glaze.
Both pieces have been painstakingly examined and black lighted and I deem them to be in EXCELLENT CONDITION with NO chips, cracks, crazing or restorations. I see NO signs of wear and the gold is 99.9% in tact. There are a few expected manufacturing flaws that include some minor pitting and a glaze pop as seen in picture (12). The ORIGINAL Case is included which is a rare find and it has the original blue velvet pillow that sits between the cup & saucer when the case is closed. The exterior of the case does have wear which is expected but the blue velvet interior & pillow are in fine condition. The case is marked with the number 73 possibly a date 1773 ? I strongly believe that this cup & saucer was never displayed and was always kept in it\'s case for these many years based on the condition. The cup stands 2 1/8\" tall, 2 1/4\" in diameter, the saucer 5\" in diameter, the case 4\" x 6\" x 6\". Please note that I will be starting this sale at an extremely low price as I always do with !!!
