What we have here is a beautiful antique radio with Magic Tuning Eye, which works well, and the radio electronics has been professionally serviced and is guaranteed for 30-days. It has minor cosmetic imperfections, with some roughness, and there is some evidence of previous cabinet repair to the veneer, overall, not too bad for a 75 year old radio.
A radio in this fine of a condition is rare and difficult to come by. This is not one of those fake radios made from home depot wood that was made up to look perfect. This radio has definitely aged and fortunately it has aged very well. Just look at the grain, you can see that this is original wood. Take a good look at the pictures, it’s a fine radio, one to be proud of,to display and to own. Makes a great display piece or a special gift, plays great, brings in signals across the AM Band with high volume and good clarity. It has other bands which also pick up interesting things from time to time depending upon your location and type of antenna used.
It’s also beautiful in a dimly lit room where you can seethe glowing tubes, back-lit dial, and Magic Eye tuning indicator. Truly amazing, they don’t make them like that anymore. There is a certain quality of sound and appearance which modern day radios simply cannot compare with, and represent an excellent investment, which can later be resold for probably a lot more money than you originally paid for it, depending upon how long you hold onto it.
Some people buy them up, store them away for a number of years and then resell them at a nice profit. Your results may vary, and how the radio is stored makes a difference in terms of future value. If you store it outside in the rain, in a basement that gets flooded, or in a drafty tool shed,it won’t retain its value that way. If you keep it in the house and take good care of it, then it should most definitely increase in value. They don’t make these radios anymore and finding one in such exceptionally good condition only comes around on very limited rare occasions.
Old radios such as these have a special sound quality which may include hum and buzz depending upon your location and type of antenna, and your reception will vary. Please do not expect this radio to sound like a modern day radio, it’s not the same thing. Most radios of this time period will have some hum, and that is normal. The radio is guaranteed to play, it’s not guaranteed to sound like a modern day radio, or to perform like a modern day radio. That’s not the reason for buying this kind of a radio. It is possible to retransmit old radio broadcasts onto this radio, and it is a rare and special treat to be able to enjoy time period programming on a radio from that era.
It's a spectacular sight, especially in a dimly lit room, with the beautiful glowing Vacuum Tubes, exquisite and beautiful Magic Eye Tuning Indicator, and the face of a beautiful illuminated Dial, really quite a sight to behold. The cabinet has been coated with real nitrocellulose lacquer and can be polished with wax, however regular furniture polish is not recommended. It measures approximately 20"L x 11"H x9”D and will be double-boxed for enhanced protection.
