NAMED Carnegie Hero Medal BRONZE w/ Case - Saved from Drowning 1913 JASPER AL
Price: US $333.88
This piece is part of a large USN grouping which belonged to Jasper Taylor (J.T.) Acuff and which I have listed in a number of separate sales. Acuff was a WWII naval captain and finished the war as a commodore. Based on the artifacts I have up for sale, Acuff was on the USS Tennessee when Pearl Harbor was attacked, December 7, 1941. He was also present at the signing of the treaty between the Allies and the Empire of Japan, September 2, 1945, in Tokyo Bay. His contributions servicing the 3rd Fleet during the December 1944 Typhoon are recorded in both Down to the Sea, by Bruce Henderson, and Halsey\'s Hurricaine, by Bob Drury & Tom Clavin. Please take a look at my other Acuff listings to see some remarkable offerings! PLEASE NOTE! I do not close sales early or add buy-it-nows. DO NOT email me with side offers! This is a beautiful, ORIGINAL, Carnegie Hero Medal in its original presentation box. The medal is in superior condition. The box is in very good shape, however, the latch doesn\'t sit right and is not working (see last two pictures above). This item was awarded to JT Acuff for saving two other children from drowning during August, 1913 in Japser, Alabama. Acuff was a mere 15 years old at the time. A great original piece!
I guarantee the authenticity of every item I sell. Please check out my other listings for similar offerings. I AM ALWAYS HAPPY TO COMBINE SHIPPING FEES TO SAVE YOU MONEY, BUT PLEASE REQUEST A COMBINED INVOICE BEFORE YOU MAKE PAYMENT. Thanks for looking and good luck.
