Up for offer is a tremendous original WWII 8th Air Force pilots British (London) made \"Ike\" uniform jacket. The jacket is top quality and was tailored during WWII by Cobb & Son on Cork Street in London and is lined in a red silk or satin. Since the jacket was custom tailored, there is no size tagging present but jacket measures to a size 38 or so. All original insignia is present including British made Captains bars, Gaunt marked US collar insignia, and a British made PUC bar. The wing is a Meyer pin backed Sterling markedwith both US & British ribbon barsunderneath. The 8th Air Force patch on left shoulder is British made also. Jacket has an RAF wing sewn on right chest. The jacket is identified on the tag and also at bottom of lining to a Lt John H. Clinton. There was a previous name written on the tag also that has been scratched out (see pics). I was told when I purchased the jacket that the pilot served with the 4th Fighter Squadron, but I have been unable to locate any information on his service. There are also a few WWII German coins rattling around in the right front pocket that I forgot to photograph for the listing.The jacket exhibits period wear with some light soiling, and has some moth holes at back of rear right shoulder area (see pic #10). Also the bottom plastic button is missing from the jacket. The insignia have been on the jacket forever and show commensurate wear including tarnishing. The shirt is in nice shape and shows much less wear than the jacket. The sunglass case is beat up, but sunglasses are in solid shape.
