ITEM: Vintage / Antique Navajo Unmarked Silver \"Whirling Log\" & Turquoise Bead Arrow Pin or Brooch ~ Estate Sale Find

SIZE: Pin measures approximately: 2 & 1/2\" in length ~ Height is slightly different due to the arrow shape: The arrow tip and end are both 3/16\" & the middle area of the arrow is only about 1/16\" in height ~ \"Whirling Log\" piece measures: 3/4\" x 3/4\" in width ~Total weight for this piece is approximately:4.7 grams (Note: Although not marked with a sterling hallmark, I do believe this piece is at least coin silver, if not actually unmarked sterling)

ITEM DETAILS: This sale features a vintage / antique Navajo silver pin or brooch. The pin is shaped in the image of an arrow and bears an additional \"Whirling Log\" symbol in the middle. There is also a tiny turquoise bead inset in the middle of the whirling log piece. There are various stamped (or inset) images along the arrow and dot an ring type area of stamping into the whirling log. The back bears a simple, c-clasp closure piece. My experience has shown me time and time again that jewelry with this type of clasp usually dates before the 1920s or so. Although it is not marked with a sterling hallmark, I do feel that this pin is at least coin silver. Although I did look, I did not find any type of maker\'s mark or name. This pin was purchased about a year ago at an estate sale. The owner (who had passed away) had a collection of Native American items that spanned from new to very old -- and almost all of it was reportedly Navajo in origin. I do feel this pin is Navajo in origin, and is also likely teetering on antique status, too. It is wonderful older piece and would a make fantastic pin for any Navajo or Native American jewelry collection.

CONDITION:FAIR ~I am considering the age and use of these items when factoring the condition rating.With age and use considered, I do feel this pin would likely be considered in \"Fair\" condition for the age and use of it. There is a mild patina seen (or tarnishing -- I do realize that one person\'s patina is another person\'s tarnishing!). I will, however, leave any polishing to the new owner. As noted in the description above, the clasp is a simple \"c-clasp,\" and does still clasp under just fine. The pin portion is purposely made to only open to about a 45 degree angle -- another hallmark of a much older piece (again, this was done intentionally when it was made and not a flaw). There are some surface scratches seen to both the front and the back, but I don\'t personally feel this is unusual for the age and use of it.With age and use considered, I would still say this pieces rate in Fair condition overall.

AGE/ DATE MADE:Although exact age is unknown, I do believe this pin is vintage / possibly an antique. I suspect it likely dates between the early 1900s to about 1930.

Special note on fine metals:Silver & Gold prices can fluctuate wildly from day to day, week to week, and even minute to minute. With that said, I have become very wary of is people purchasing fine metals from me and then turning around and claiming that, a) either the gold or silver price has changed or, b) my scale is off by 0.1 of a gram, and I should therefore refund that tenth of a gram (in money) back into the respective Paypal account. I have purchased a brand new digital scale and will no longer refund for tenth of a gram difference OR for gold / silver prices changes on the stock market. If I have made a large error in weight I will -- of COURSE -- continue to honor my very lenient full return policy,but will no longer refund for either market price changes OR tenth of a gram weight variations from scale to scale. If you would like a full return, simply return the exact item(s) back, and I will refund your entire purchase price. I will no longer refund partial payments, though. Please keep this in mind while offerding and, more importantly, I am very sorry for even having to post this due to the few problems I\'ve had. An automatic NPB (Non-Paying buyer) notification will be sent after the 5th day if payment is not received. Paypal is currently the only form of payment I accept. On nearly all of my items, if you are dissatisfied with your purchase, you are welcome to return it for a full refund within two weeks (14 days) from the day it was received. Those are usually the only instances that I do not allow returns. I figure, if the item does not belong to me, I should allow that decision to be made by the person who does own it.
