This radio -- originally listed two weeks ago -- is being relisted due to a non-paying buyer. Please make sure you\'re prepared to pay for it before placing a offer. Thank you.Here\'s a beautiful 1940 Addison 2a catalin radio. The radio was electrically restored in the 90\'s and is once again capable of tuning local and regional stations (with its short wire antenna) or long distance stations with an outdoor antenna.Condition is excellent to near mint throughout, and the maroon and butterscotch catalin cabinet is about as nice as you\'ll find on a 2a. No cracks, no chips, no gouges, no deformities, no missing chunks of catalin, no tube burn, no damage to the screw holes, etc. Flashlight passes clean, even light through all sides of the case\'s exterior, with no evidence of repairs, grafted sections, spray painting or imperfections. The chassis is likewise about as nice as you\'ll find on a 2a. Virtually no oxidation, very little tarnish and no corrosion, dents or other damage. When the radio was restored, the original line cord was replaced, as well as the original antenna wire. I have not opened the radio up, but I\'m assuming the electrolytics were updated as well (or else the radio would likely not work). As noted above, the radio can tune strong local stations with its supplied antenna (which is just a few feet long), but reception is considerably better with an outdoor antenna. Plays reasonably loud with normal low level hum heard in low tube count 30\'s and 40\'s mantle radios. PLEASE NOTE: catalin radios are not an ideal choice for daily playing. The tubes inside them can put out a lot of radiant heat, and the catalin can be deformed or destroyed if this heat becomes too intense. I would strongly advise not using the radio any longer than it takes to demonstrate that it\'s working. The primary reason catalin radios are so scarce today is because their cabinets were destroyed by their tubes.Approximately 11\" wide x 6\" high x 5\" deep. Shipping weight, properly packed, will be approximately 14 lb.
