Here we have a seldom seen 1938 Meteor model 7215 table radio. Manufactured by Silvertone this rare beauty features an absolutely stunning American Walnut cabinet, waterfall top with a unique slant front design, lighted gold dial, pushbutton tuning, extreme Art Deco appeal and great performance.

Cabinet: TheAmerican walnut cabinet is a definite head turner.Gorgeous wood grain flows throughout the entire set. The waterfall top coupled with a slant front design reminds you of the attractive Art Deco styles so popular from that era.A large intricate cut grill not only looks great but allows for optimal sound from the speaker. Jet black trim adds the perfect contrast and the brass Meteor nameplate compliments the other brass escutcheons surrounding the dial and pushbuttons. This seldom seen beauty is sure to be the highlight of any room in the home or office you choose to display it in.

Dial:The gold dial is quite attractive. Withthe new dial lamp it lights nice and bright. All letters and numbers on the dial are legible and show very little signsof wear. The surrounding brass escutcheonshines nicely, as does the one surrounding the pushbuttons. All pushbuttons are in great shape and fully functional. However, due to the age anddelicacy of the mechanism, it is recommended you use the manual tuning knob. All three knobs are perfect and control on/off & volume, tone and tuning.

Grill Cloth: The 1930’s style grill cloth is a fine reproductionfeaturingaclassic gold color witha herringbonedesign. This grillcloth can also be purchased separately on our other sales.

Chassis: All tubes in the5tube chassis were testedwith any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors werechecked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced orre-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimalperformance.Using the included copper line antenna the radio performs very well. I am able to pick up many stations across the AM broadcast band with great tone and plenty of volume.

The Cabinet’s Finish and Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinetsundergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the naturalbeauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. Weachieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sandthe cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, andblemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We makesure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detractfrom the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers areapplied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers andtoners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished inthe factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through aprofessional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room.Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allowsthe lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sandingfollows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Ozglaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, thefinal outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster&shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready toproudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office.
