Here we have a 1936 Stewart Warner table radio featuring a gorgeous American Walnut cabinet, bright and colorful backlit dial, great Art Deco appeal and excellent performance on the AM broadcast band.

Cabinet: The American Walnut cabinet is breathtaking.Gorgeous wood grain flows throughout the entire set with an elegant swirled grain gracing the front. Its attractive curves reminds you of the streamline designs so popular from that era. A large Art Deco grill compliments the bright backlit dial beautifully. Dark walnut tones finish the cabinet off with elegance and style. A definite head turner no matter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in.

Dial: The backlit dial is a real beauty. It features a black background, ivory dial scale, orange Stewart Warner logo and the word RADIO printed vertically at the bottom of the dial. Quite a unique design. And when powered up everything comes to live with a bright glow. All letters and numbers on the dial are legible and show very little signs of wear. The dial glass is clear and free from any chips, breaks or cracks. The surrounding brass escutcheon shines nicely and adds an elegant touch. All three wood knobs are in perfect shape and control the following; on/off & volume, tuning and local / longdistance.

Grill Cloth: The 1930’s style grill cloth is a fine reproductionfeaturing a whiskey gold color witha black Art Deco geometric design. This grillcloth can also be purchased separately on our other sales.

Chassis: All tubes in the5 tubechassis were testedwith any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors werechecked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced orre-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimalperformance. With the included copper line antenna the radio performsvery well on both the AMbroadcast. I\'m able to pick up many stations with great tone and plenty of volume. The Cabinet’s Finish and Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinetsundergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the naturalbeauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. Weachieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sandthe cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, andblemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We makesure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detractfrom the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers areapplied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers andtoners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished inthe factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through aprofessional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room.Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allowsthe lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sandingfollows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Ozglaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, thefinal outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster&shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready toproudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office.
