you are admiring a magnificent example of an original wwll cbi [china burma india theater] a-2 jacket. this particular a-2 was made by perry sportswear in 1942. it is unique in that it has a three piece construction on the inside of the wind flap, and has what appears to be an original brass conmar zipper. these features were common on the next contrat that perry had, and rare to see on the earlier goatskin [the jacket is made of goatskin] contract. the jacket has an atc [army transport command] decal type patch on the front left chest. it has 23 camels painted on the front right chest, one of which is facing in the opposite direction, presumably mean an aborted mission when flying the hump. the painted camels show wear from jacket use, but are clearly visible. on the left shoulder is a cbi shield patch, and on the left shoulder is an aaf meatball patch. both leather borders. both are solid, but are a bit dirty from jacket wear. on the back is a large 9 1/4\"X 11 3/4\" early style wwll blood chit. the blood chit is of leather multi-layered construction. the blood chit has numbers written on it that are the same as the numbers under one of the names written on the liner. the blood chit is in excellent condition, but is a little dirty from active wear. the names on the liner are s.w. white, and lt. a.f. jacinski. below his name are two sets of numbers, 7585, and then 1563612, same as on the blood chit. the jacket is in terrific condition in and out. no drying, rot, cracking, etc. just the expected surface wear due to having been worn during service. the liner is in exceptional condition except the cloth collar area where there is separation and fraying. the knits appear to have been an early replacement as they are in unusually good condition and are still springy. however, i do not see any tell tale stitch holes in any of the areas where the knits are sewn to the leather. the conmar zipper works flawlessly, with no missing teeth, or separation at either bottom ends. all hardware is present and function properly. this special wwll cbi a-2 is in such nice condition, it evven wearable today. the jacket is tagged a size 40, and fits as a war time size 40. the measurements for the jacket are as follows. arm pit to arm pit laid flat front: 21\". front length: 22 1/2\". sleeves from the shoulder seam to end of cuff: 25\". back length from the bottom of the collar stand [yes, this jacket is constructed with a collar stand, like a dress shirt] to the bottom of the waist band: 25 1/4\". shoulder seam to shoulder seam at the top back: 17 1/4\". in short, this is one one the nicest original cbi hump pilots a-2s that i have seen in a long time. they are becoming harder and harder to find in any condition, and in condition this nice, well, almost impossible to find.
