~ In Scarce Original Wooden Box ~~ 1800's - EXCELLENT CONDITION ~For your consideration: Vintage, original C. F. Orvis Maker Patented 1874 fly reel in its originalwooden box. This vintage 1800s example of Orvis's first reel is in excellent conditionbothaestheticallyand mechanically. The rear bearing cover is stamped:
C. F. ORVIS MAKERPATENTEDMAY 12th1874MANCHESTER VT.
The reel comes fitted in its original wooden box.The box has a nice patina on the outside and looks likenew on the inside. The box is also in sound, excellentcondition with all of its original hardware. The reelfoot is in excellent, unaltered condition and it lookslike it has never been mounted on a rod.
This is not a reproduction, this is an authentic 1800sexampleof Orvis's 1874 classic early American fly reel.It would be very hard to find one in nicer condition.
