Markings:The left ricasso is marked \"SA / 1911\" with the ordnance bomb, the right is marked \"US / 5599\". The left grip panel is marked \"25 B\". The back of the scabbard\'s leather tip cover is marked \"BRAUER BROS / 1918\" (The \"19\" is faded).
Size: The blade is approximately 10 1/4\" long. OAL is about 15\"
Condition: The blade has been re-edged and the tip was re-shaped crudely; the knife now has an upper false edge that is sharpened. There are areas of pitting and oxidation. There is bluing on the ricasso areas, tangs and cross guard, indicating this item was probably re-blued and issued during WWI. The guard, tang and pommel have oxidation, the guard is slightly bent back. The retaining mechanism functions correctly. The wood grips have a few marks and discoloration as photographed but no cracks. The scabbard has normal aging discoloration and scuffing but no major damages. The leather tip shows some compression marks, the stitching is in tact; the front lower left side has a few uneven stitches.
