This charming \"Lehmann\" \"EPL1 651\" airship is in \"as found\" condition and has not been repaired or restored.

Founded in 1881 in Brandenburg, Germany by Ernst Paul Lehmann, the Lehmann Company is renowned for its detailed and brightly lithographed mechanical tin toys. Lehmann began to see great success in the early 20th century when its sophisticated, lightweight tin toys were recognized as innovations next to the toys of other makers.

The airship has suffered some patches of paint loss, particularly to the nose and tail. It also has the usual scuffs, marks and scratches that you would expect from a played with item of this age.
The cabins underneath the airship and the moveable fins are present, the celluloid propellers may be replacements.
The lithographed paint work that remains has retained a fair colour and the lettering is still legible, although it has faded in some areas. I have tried to show the condition in the photographs.

This is a rare and wonderful tinplate toy that would grace any collection.
