Original Vintage MR. PEANUT Cast Iron Bank - Planters Peanuts
This is an original Mr. Peanut Cast Iron Bank. I've had this bank in my possession for many years after I purchased it from a quality Antique Shoppe. There are some coins and possibly even some dollar bills inside, but we never could figure out how to open it. There is one recessed screw in the back, but it does not turn easily, and I didn't want to alter it. When I tip the bank over and try to get the coins out through the slot, I see both pennies and silver coins. He weighs in at 6 lbs, though I know at least some of that weight comes from the coins inside.

MEASUREMENTS & CONDITION: THISMr. Peanut is about 11.5" tall and about 3.5" Diameter at the base. His arms protrude out a bit further from the base, so it's widest point is about 5.5" wide. Weight: 6 lbs. If this bank was painted at one time, the paint has long since worn off. I see no signs of any paint, however. I have not attempted to clean it up, so it's a bit dusty from years as a doorstop, too. It doesn't appear that the screw in the back has ever been unscrewed. From the sound of it (when I tip it upside-down), I'd say there are at least 20 to 30 coins inside this bank. I don't know how old it is, but I have had this for at least 15 years since I purchased it at an Antique Shoppe.
