Original WW2 Photomap Metz France with combat markings Rare Combat Map Bulge WW2
Price: US $92.52
This is one cool double sided photo map that have been gathering dust for the last 70 years or so. This map is as it was during the WW2 invasion of Europe. This Map is of Metz France and was used during the Normandy Invasion and subsequent movement across France into Germany. This map measures approx 20x22.5inches. This Map has pencil markings from the war but I don\'t know what they mean other than the x marks on a couple bridges. The streets are re-named to german names like Hitler and Goering and I\'m not sure if that was a joke or if the germans really renamed them. This map is in great condition Please verify condition from the photographs. It was carried/used/collected by my Grandfather who was a Captain in the US army during WW2. My Grandfather was a Combat Surgeon and an avid outdoorsman who studied maps until he died in the late 1980\'s. These Maps were found in a Nazi Medic Trunk which he got off a captured German officer that my Grandfather stripped of the German Markings and used as a personal case during the war. Some of these maps have some dirt and soil markings from being in fox holes during some of the more horrific periods of his tour. The information is approximate as I only have his war diary and hundreds of letters to my grandmother to decipher how he lived during this time. Please see my other sales for more cool maps from this collection.

Due to the response and questions on this and my other maps for sale...I\'ll add that my grandfather served and ended up in a few different companies during his time in Europe..During the landings he was in the 115th, and later he ended up in an engineering unit doing surgeries. I\'ve attached a piece of his war diary where you can see he added the city of Metz. He left blank spaces where city and other locations should have been and then added them, sometimes, after the war.
