Original WW2 US Army/Air Map of Normandy Coast 1943 - Line Drawn to St. Lo -   Note: There are more photos at the end of this listing than are pictured in \'s Photo Gallery.

This is a really nice US Army Map of Normandy, France published in 1943, prior to the D-Day Invasion of June 6th, 1944. Approx. 30" x 36" Map is titled "France: 1-250.000 - Cherbourg & Caen - Fourth Edition - Army/Air - Sheet 3a & 8 - 4th Edition 1943".

Third picture (below) shows the map overlaid with modern images that depict the aerial drops of the 82nd and 101st Airborne units as well as the beach landings at Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword (these blue and red notations are illustrated here for reference, and are not printed on the map being saleed). The famous battleground sites at St. Lo, St. Mere-Eglise, Caen , Carentan, etc., are also depicted. Last 3 photos (below) show where the owner inked a big dot at Vierville (Omaha Beach) then a line that runs south, then west to Isigny, southeast to an "X" at Colomlieres, then doubling back west with another "X" before heading south in a roundabout way to St. Lo. (red highlights added in Photoshop - they are not on the map). X\'s are presumed to be Bivouac sites. Also a penciled notation "WT490640".

Map shows genuine period use with crumpling at the edges. Would make a beautiful display.
