Original WWII Wake Island Paper Lot - Staff Sergeant Gifford L. Haley- 4 documents and 2 photos. The documents include: Letter dated 22 January 1942 to Mrs. Haley enclosing the Presidential Citation to the USMC First Defense; Battalion and MAG 21 present on Wake Island from December 8 to 22, 1941; letter from Air Corps Chief, Lt Gen Hap Arnold, to the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Maj Gen T. Holcomb, commending the gallantry of those defending Wake Island; the Presidential Citation dated 5 January 1942 on White House Stationary; and the final document being a promotion document dated 13 May, 1941 promoting Gifford L. Haley to Staff Sergeant - Hqs 2nd Marine Aircraft Group, 2nd Marine Division, FMF, Ewa, Oahu, T. H. There are also two photos - one dated 1916 of Haley as a young boy with his mother and younger sibling and the other of him as a 17-year old. All items are in good, used condition - the documents have age toning around the edges and some minor edge wear, but no major issues. All the documents also have fold marks. , good luck!
