Owensboro KY -1 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Crock-Jar-From John Reinhardt Grocer  Offered for your consideration is a one gallon grocer’s crock/jar. Cobalt blue stencil reads: FROM John Reinhardt, Dealer in Staple & Family Grocerie Main St. OWENSBORO, KY. There are freehand stripes under the rim and at the base, with a wavy freehand stripe above the stencil. There are three chips to inside edge of rim that are shown in the photos. There is one small 5/8” vertical firing crack at bottom edge. There are oil stains to the jar that I did not attempt to remove. This crock was found in an attic of a southwestern PA farmhouse along with some others. There is a blemish to one side just below & to the right of the last E in Grocerie. I don’t believe this to be a repair because all of the crocks were covered in dirt from having been stored there for many years.
