This is a charming little piece by Bernice Talbot, whose works have been featured in the National Museum of the American Indian, and the Smithsonian.
The Pine Ridge Pottery was started as a WPA project to teach Native Americans \"western\" crafts, then was staffed by Bernice and her two sisters starting in 1937.Measures 2.75 inches tall and 3.25 inches across.Features a geometric pattern.Signed with the distinctive \"Pine Ridge Sioux Pottery mark and signed B Talbot.
There is a chip and mineral deposits along the rim of the bowl, which can be clearly seen in the pictures (the side views are taken at 1/4 turn intervals). I\'ve included a close up with my finger nail for scale. I think someone used it as a planter at one point; I\'ve removed some with a fingernail but I\'m afraid of doing anything more aggressive so I\'m be leaving the deposits for now.
