PRE-WAR BLACKAMERICANA POOR PETE & BULL DOG CELLULOID WINDUP TOY JAPAN

This sale is fora vintage celluloid windup toy of Poor Pete – eating his watermelon and beingchomped in the rear by a bull dog - this is a pre-war toy made in Japan. The toy is rather large standing 5 ¾” tallwith realistic detailing in every aspect.The boy has wonderful curls in his hair (push to back of head) andamazing face with tears rolling down his checks while holding dearly to hiswatermelon. The bot is dressed in hisoriginal outfit – very clean and has celluloid legs (right leg reattached attop – well done) – and the dog is equally as wonderful with a realistic bodycovers in fur!
This celluloid toywas tested and WORKS – when activatedthe boy runs and jiggles from leg to leg in an apparent reaction to the dog bitinghis rear-end and wishing to shake him off!
