Here is another coat from my collection. Of the Model 1895 Officers Field or undress coat. Made of dark navy blue wool and trimmed in molehair around collar, around bottom and down front, none on the cuffs and none on the back (Correct federal type). This one was tailored in Seattle Washington for an officer in the Washington State National Guard. Has gilt pin back U.S. and sewn on gilt brass State of Washington collar devices, which are rare in themselves. Great bullion Captain of Medical Corp sewn on shoulder boards. Coat, based on construction and insignia I would say dates after the Spanish American War, say 1905. Chest measures a size 36. No mothes holes. The silk collar linerhas seperated at the top as shown. An wipstich around would shore up this. Otherwise the coat is in fine condition with no holes, stains or fading. A great coat and scarce coat as guard uniforms from this period and from a western state are very difficult to find. Sadly the ID tag was cut from the inside of the coat.
