This listing is for a beautiful Hand Painted Porcelain & Beveled Glass Trinket, Jewelry Box, Jar. I don\'t know if this is German, or French. I have seen others advertised as Dresden...will let you be the judge.
The body of the box is a pale yellow, hard to tell in pictures. The floral spray is beautiful, hand painted Daisy, Poppy & foliage. This is a larger jar, measures 3" tall counting the feet by 3.5" across. the glass is over 1/4" thick.
It has the old "S" style clasp which works as it should. The hinge is good with no damage or repair. The brass mounts have aged patina, would shine up nicely if you like that look. The glass is very good, very little if any scratches, a minor flea bite here or there. This was well cared for.
The sides & inside of the box are glazed, but the bottom is not. There are etched marks on the bottom, and Roman numerals etched into the metal band on the bottom. I have no clue what these mean. This is a old Victorian piece. The box itself weighs almost a pound, will box safely under 2 pounds.
