Here is one of three antique violins and one viola we acquired out of an estate this week, which we will be listing today. This violin has a label that reads: JOFEPH \"joseph\" GUARNERIUS FECIT CREMONA ANNO 1742. There is also what appears to possibly be a maker\'s name in the corner of the label that is somewhat hard to decipher. It looks like GIAM ?. Please understand we are selling this antique violin as found for restoration. It has a couple of cracks on the top side. Now, having said that, this violin appears to us to be of very high quality and exceptionally well made. It has a nice soft varnish and extra attention to detail that we normally do not see. I am sure the collectors will know more about this old violin than we do but we do our best to describe it. It measures approximately 22 7/8 inches long with a 14 inch back.
