Museum Quality Piece Model RARE Contrabass Trombone ~ Key of Eb ~ Model 72H Description Up for sale is certainly one of the most exciting, and most rare trombones we have ever come into possession of!! Reputed for making some of the finest brass instruments of all time, the C.G. Conn company commands the attention of any serious collector of musical wind instruments. Of the trombones produced by C.G. Conn, their bass trombones are especially rare, and quite desirable. The instrument you are looking at here, may very well be one of the most rare trombones ever produced by C.G. Conn ever. Produced in an age where Conn was without question produced some of the finest wind instruments on the planet!! From our research, we have not found any reported examples of this particular model anywhere. Finding even reference was difficult, however there are no known images of this model to be found. We did discover a report that there are only three known to exist models of the BBb Contrabass trombone produced by Conn in 1901. One belongs to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, one belongs to the Pittsburg Symphony, and the third belongs to the Conn Museum! Condition This bass trombone wears a doubled over handslide with a bore size of (.550\"/.562\") duo bore. The bell flare diameter measures 9 3/8\" inches. The instrument is pitched in the key of Eb. The instrument is silver plated with gold plate on the bell interior. How Does It Play?: This horn plays incredibly well!! The articulation is crisp and the flexibility is superb. This horn possesses a very resonant sound, and might be characterized as more of a bright texture. The projection is superb. Conn company is one of the most influential musical instrument manufactures of all time. Started in the 1870\'s, Charles Gerard Conn pioneered one of the United States more valuable treasures; American made musical instruments. The success of C.G. Conn was absolutely incredible, and it quickly become the largest producers of musical instruments in the world!! Over the span of history, C.G. Conn realized a reputation for having some of the finest crafted instruments of all time. They had entire departments in place for research and development of musical instruments, utilizing some of the most current science and scientific instruments available to the world. There were so many advancements made to the industry because of these resources that Conn was able to provide to the world. It\'s always exciting for us to come across an early professional level instrument produced by Conn during what many refer to as the \"Golden Age\" of musical instrument manufacturing. (1920\'s-1960\'s) What\'s more impressive however is to find a truly RARE or unusual piece of equipment that was produced by the company. This instrument belonged to a community trombone choir that toured the U.S back in the 1920\'s-1950\'s regularly. The instrument has sat in a basement for the majority of the last 50 years or so. The band\'s name is painted on one side of the original case, which is very well preserved. What you are looking at here is without question rare AND unique!! This is certainly fitting for a museum. Complimented by the incredibly well preserved condition, you really won\'t have many opportunities like this presented to the market!
